Bookings will not be confirmed until a deposit payment of $150 has been received by the Para Hills Bowling Club. Arrangements for all catered functions will be strictly by negotiation. The (former) Federal Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs in company with NEC, a leading supplier and integrator of information and communications technology, and its consortium members delivered the BFS initiative nationally.
The kiosk at the Para Hills Bowling Club consists of two (2) personal computers connected to the Internet by high speed broadband. The planned outcome for the BFS is to increase the confidence and skills of older Australians in using computers and the Internet, as well as helping them to build their community participation and social inclusion.
Although the kiosk is principally for the use of seniors, that is those over 55 years of age who may wish to be trained in the use of computers and the Internet, others are welcome to use the kiosk should they so desire. However, it is to be noted that seniors do have priority over others when the kiosk is in use.
Volunteers are available at the club to provide training, support and assistance at various times. Arrangements to use the kiosk can be made by visiting the club, or by contacting the Para Hills Bowling Club on 8285 6744.
The beautiful memorial rose garden, complete with water feature and gazebo, is frequently used for wedding ceremonies. The Club has two lawn greens and one synthetic green. Pennant bowls dominates the calendar from September through to April. When played, Pennant games can occupy either both lawn greens and / or the new synthetic green, but many times only one green will be in use. Pennant games are played from 12.30 pm and can finish at around 5.30 pm, usually on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Community Social Bowls
The club actively promotes community social bowls at any time. A synthetic green is available for clubs, organisations and individuals to hire at $8.00 per person. Hire of the synthetic green and BBQ area makes an ideal venue for private competitions, e.g. organisation v organisation. Similarly, it is ideal for team building. Just call the Club, or Bob Moore on 0416 074 710 to make all necessary arrangements. In the cooler months (when Pennant Bowls are not played) community social bowls are held on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons commencing at 12.00 midday, weather permitting. Cost to participate is $6.00 per bowler. Pies, pasties and sausage rolls are available and the club bar is open for business. Everyone is welcome especially beginners.
“Night Owls”, are held during the summer months on Tuesday nights, commencing at 6.00 pm. These are fun nights where mixed teams take part in a competition. Dress is casual and a knowledge of lawn bowls is not essential. An initial one off registration fee of $10 and a fee of $6.00 per bowler per night is charged to participate. Also the club’s bar facilities are open for business. See the Events Page for further details
New bowlers (beginners or experienced) and their guests are most welcome. See the About Us Page for information about and how to join the Para Hills Bowling Club.
